and the polls you have here are the most liberal in the country, the ones that arn't tied into liberal mass media tell a truer story,70% of americans didn't want this bill,no republican wanted this bill,37 states have filed suit against this bill, just when did the congress start dictating to this country.is this your idea of democracy.

man, sometimes I feel I am the only one in this world who thinks this is the right thing to do...

I don't understand why? Obama got elected promising this Health change for the people (amonst other promises). Can't people read just what exactly is now offered? I would have thought it was a good thing for all low and middle income people.

They can still have choice in who they pay for insurance. Here in the UK we do not have a choice - we pay for the NHS and that's that. We can have private insurance, but that has limited cover here in the UK and it never covers A&E...

Also should one  try and use private means to top up any long term use of drugs for treatment such as Cancer (that are denied because of cost by the NHS), then one can be banned from having any NHS treatment! How bonkers is that?

the people who work for themselves are going to be the only ones to profit from this, the lower class already had medicare, the middle class already had employer offered ins. and no, over time people will just opt out of the private ins, and go towards the government sponsered ones.and if you do keep your own, your going to be paying for yours and the government one.....welcome to socialist hell.

Hello Ken,

I have friends in the States (very good ones too if I may say so). Anyway, from what I can gather from them, this is, on the whole, a very good thing for the very young and the elderly. It is certainly much better than what is on offer right now. Of course it aint perfect, but then things often aren't. Our NHS has become a "political football" between the political parties here. Labour (socialist to you) have managed this time around to completely put it on it's knees (the NHS is the almost largest employer in the UK). The British Conservative party are commited to the principal of the NHS, but need to get in there and radically rid it of the bloated upper and middle management that is draining the money away from the front line services provided by the Dr's and Nurses etc. I have a long term condition that would not be paid for or  covered in the USA. It is kept under control here, and now I am over 60, any and all drugs I may be supplied are free. If I was under 60 then I think the charge is about £7.50 per drug treatment (about the same in $US).... Is that Socialist Hell?

In friendship

Josephine
